Juicy Creativity

We live in a miraculous, creative Universe. When you're on a hike in the woods, take a look around you at the rocks, the trees, the birds, the sky. Or when you're at the ocean, savor the breeze, the texture of the sand, the rhythmic sound of the waves. Everywhere the creative force of the Universe is at play. Pulsing, expanding, ebbing, flowing. All is in a process of creation, recreation, transformation, disintegration. The cycles of life are always at work and we are simply a part of it.
And because we are part of this whole, all humans are inherently creative.Tribal peoples knew it and lived it, and in some places on the planet they still do. They danced, made sound, built their own dwellings, created objects for practical use and for beauty. They performed ceremonial rituals, decorated themselves with feathers, shells, beads, painted themselves with color, wove wonderful fabric, adorned themselves with jewelry. Today we're more industrialized, dress less exotically and in most cases purchase objects others have made. But we're creators nonetheless!
I was an artist for many years, and then slowly moved away from it as I gravitated toward the Healing Arts. Recently, hesitantly, I started to paint again and I realize how much more juice and sparkle it adds to my life. Tune into your own life. Are there things you've always wanted to pursue, but it never seems like there's enough time? Playing an instrument, taking photographs, enrolling in a movement class? Of course, these are external options. But we can call upon our alive, creative spirit in any part of the day.
Exercise can feel like like drudgery or creative play and getting dressed in the morning can feel rushed, habitual, but what if you took more pleasure in how you choose to clothe yourself, express yourself? I'm just like you. I forget to take things in, to marvel, to immerse myself in wonder, to enjoy the sensuousness, the lushness of experience. But how much more alive I feel when I do.
When we look at the world and engage with the world as a young child might, everything feels fresh and new. The same creative power and force that flows through the Universe and through all living things, flows through you. So dare to celebrate the expressive spark that resides in you. Dare to live fully, as the powerful, unique, juicy creator that you are. That's right! Be courageous and just go ahead and shine!
